Following a minor delay due to the members getting sick, TEMPEST finally had their long awaited debut on March 2nd, 2022 under YueHua Entertainment with their album ‘It’s ME, It’s WE’ and title track ‘Bad News’. Just like their name implies, they came into the industry like a whirlwind with the intention of stirring up the K-pop scene with their bright energy and powerful performances!

And just as promised they completely blew that audience away; you need only take one look at TEMPEST either on or off stage to know they are an energetic group of young men with a bright and cheerful energy! So, in today’s article we’re going to introduce you in detail to the 7 members who make up TEMPEST: LEW, Hanbin, Hyeongseop, Hyuk, Hwarang, Eunchan and Taerae.

Senior Idols LEW & Hyeongseop Seonbae

Starting with the leader LEW, it's very clear from the way he carries himself that he has years of experience under his belt making him more than worthy of this important position. Initially he made his first appearance in the idol world when he appeared on Produce 101 Season 2, ranking 23rd before returning to the stage as a duo with his fellow contestant Hyeongseop, who ranked 16th!

The two debuted as a duo under the name Hyeongseop X Euiwoong back in Nov 2017 but ceased activities officially in August 2021 so they could become part of TEMPEST. Fortunately, they also brought a plethora of experience and knowledge with them - both members participated in the lyric writing of the title track ‘Bad News’ and have shown a keen dedication to honing their writing and composing skills.

What’s more the two make a great team as they cover pretty much all the skills needed to be an idol. Alongside being the leader LEW is the Lead Rapper, Sub Vocalist and Composer meanwhile Hyeongseop balances this out by being a Vocalist & Dancer. This means the two members have more than enough skills to teach and guide the rest of the group as seniors in the industry!

The Vitamin Line Hanbin & Taerae

Despite Hanbin being the eldest and Taerae the youngest, the two members have a bright energy that fits perfectly with the image that TEMPEST have as a group, they were clearly born to be part of the group and are two of the biggest mood makers, always serving to lighten the mood and keep up morale.

Hanbin is well known in the industry, not only for his time spent as a contestant on the trainee survival show I-land, where he ranked as high as 4th in the global vote in episode 10 - but he is also the very first Vietnamese K-Pop idol ever! Hanbin has had a love for performing, especially dancing since he was younger, and even founded a dance crew named CAC in 2016. He actually came to Korea with the specific goal of becoming an idol, and now with the positions of TEMPEST’s Lead Vocalist & Lead Dancer, he’s finally made that dream come true.

Taerae, on the other hand, was clearly born to be a rapper - despite being the youngest he has a charismatic deep voice that brings a new element to each song. Yet, he still manages to stay true to his cheerful and playful side, earning him the nickname of ‘Taetriever’!

Born Idols: Hyuk, Hwarang & Eunchan

Last but by no means least are three members who each bring something special to the group. Firstly is Hyuk, who is the group’s Main Vocalist and for good reason! He successfully passed the first round of auditions of numerous big companies: namely FNC, JYP and BigHit Entertainment with his honey voice and effortless power vocals, but fortunately it was in YueHua Entertainment with TEMPEST that he found his home. Though it’s still early days, Hyuk shows a vocal skill to match many of his seniors and he really shines in the group’s more sentimental songs.

Similarly, though Eunchan is a Sub Vocalist, he does have the making of an amazing vocalist and will surely shine more as the group continues to gain experience and grow. Being a graduate from the Fashion Modelling department of the famous Hanlim Multi Arts School, it’s not surprising he’s also the unofficial ‘visual’ of the group too with his tall height and baby face - though, he is a prince amongst princes after all.

And finally we have Hwarang, a member who brings an air of coolness and confidence to the stage and balances out TEMPEST’s bright energy with his burning charisma. Hwarang was a trainee for a total of 8 years, having spent 6 years under DSP media and then 2 more under YueHua as a trainee. His hard work and determination definitely paid off as it's given him an air of unwavering confidence, yet despite that he’s still friendly and approachable. He also participated in the lyric writing for the title song ‘Bad News’ and wishes to continue honing his composing skills, alongside his existing skills of urban dance and choreography.

This Is We

As you can see TEMPEST is a mix of 7 unique individuals who each bring something invaluable to the team, and despite their different levels of experience within the industry, you need only watch the members interact briefly to see how long they all get on with one another.
