MOA came out on top this week in a landslide victory, crowning Tomorrow X Together’s Yeonjun as the idol with the most legendary fancam in the Spotlight vote. However, in today’s articles we’re going to be illustrating how Yeonjun’s legacy goes far beyond a mere fancam, showing that Yeonjun is an idol that stands out as a leader amongst Gen Z idols and fans alike, and just why he’s so deserving of the self explanatory moniker: 4th Gen’s It Boy.

Yeonjun is the eldest of the 5 member powerhouse that is Tomorrow X Together and he is the only member in the 4th gen group who was born in the 90s (a fact the other members of TXT will never let him forget.) Still, during their pre-debut days he wasn’t just first when it came to age - as a trainee Yeonjun ranked first in all their monthly evaluations, continuously topping the class in dance, rap and vocals and earning himself the nickname ‘BLT’ (BigHit’s Legendary Trainee). From the very beginning Yeonjun had been a star amongst those who knew him, a legend in the making.
However, if you think that Yeonjun and the other members of Tomorrow X Together had an easy time after debut because of how talented they are, you couldn’t be more wrong. Being the first group to debut from BigHit following living legends BTS, the members were met with scrutiny from all angles. Whilst some discredited TXT’s own hard work and claimed their success as the result of ‘BigHit privilege’, others could not stop unfairly comparing the two groups despite BTS being multiple years their seniors.
Still Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai did not falter in the face of this animosity; as their group name implies, they worked together to walk their own path to a better tomorrow where they are finally acknowledged for their own hard work. Yes, BTS may have paved the way, but TXT ran along it through their own efforts and the support of their ever loving fans, MOA. Let it be made clear, TXT’s success is purely of their own making. Anyone questioning the cause of TXT’s success only stands to make a fool of themselves.

Nowadays, TXT have shown time and time again that they know how to command a stage, and it’s on the stage that Yeonjun shines his brightest. As is typical in K-Pop, TXT did many covers of their senior artists’ songs during their rookie period, but few other artists know how to transform a song into their own the way that Yeonjun does.
From the effortlessness of his vocals, the power of his dance moves, and the undeniable allure of his facial expressions, Yeonjun never shows a lack of confidence on stage, and for good reason - why should he? TXT is a group of all rounders without decided positions, and Yeonjun is definitely a complete package. What’s more, Yeonjun’s charm only goes a step further when you see the daring and unique style choices he experiments with on and off stage.
Despite his idol status Yeonjun has also been pioneering the fashion scene, being cast in multiple fashion shots, and rocking skirts and crop tops, breaking gender normal as a leader amongst Gen Zs who are known for stepping away from traditional notions of toxic masculinity. Yeonjun himself has shown he sees no limits when it comes to his self expression, asking “who's to decide whether something is women’s or men’s clothing?” and one can’t help but be captivated by his unique sense of style and self.

However despite his strong sense of self and widely recognised skill, Yeonjun continues to surprise onlookers with his humble and soft hearted nature. While it would be easy for someone of his calibre to become complacent or arrogant, Yeonjun continues to strive to be better, remaining critical of his mistakes and constantly looking for new ways to improve himself.
Moreover, he never forgets to show his gratitude to his fans, it’s no secret that Yeonjun loses his composure when MOAs come together to hold special events and show their support for the boys. He was first to burst into tears during day one of TXT’s recent third anniversary fan meeting ‘MOA X Together’, as thanks to the pandemic it was the first fan meeting that TXT have been able to hold properly with their fans. Whether you are a MOA or not, Yeonjun’s insane stage presence and adorably sweet demeanour are an indisputable killer combo.

Probably what’s most exciting is the fact that Yeonjun and the members of Tomorrow X Together still have a lot to show. They just dropped the logo teaser for their new mini album ‘minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’ set to be released May 9th, and judging from the logo and title design, ‘minisode 2’ will be a conclusion to the ‘The Chaos Chapter’ series before they move on to the next story in their cinematic universe, just as ‘minisode 1’ was a conclusion to ‘The Dream Chapter’ series before it.
Between the dark and haunting vibes that TXT showed in the ‘Frost’ Performance Video and the powerful rock vocals from ‘0X1=LOVESONG’ and ‘LO$ER=LO♡ER’, what kind of concept and sound do you think TXT will wow the audience with this time? What will be the next chapter of their universe and their legacy?
