“Sweet life, live for the good times” is a lyric from newly debuted girl group FIFTY FIFTY’s debut song “Higher”. This song alludes to a utopian world the members dream of as well as the love, friendship, and memories they want to cherish forever.

FIFTY FIFTY, consisting of four members—SAENA, KEENA, SIO, and ARAN—debuted on November 18th, 2022. The group’s name derives from the crossroads of choices made in life, giving each and every individual an uncertain, or fifty-fifty, future.

“In making choices, there are good choices and the choices that are not easy to make.” - ARAN

THE FIFTY

Their debut album, ‘THE FIFTY’, is rather interesting, seeing as each of the four songs is of a different genre and have completely different effects on the listener. The mix of retro city pop, synth pop, R&B pop style, and EDM all in the same album is a recipe for endless bops! It also opens the door for a broad variety of music enjoyers to find the perfect song.

FIFTY FIFTY began gaining attention prior to their official debut with two pre-releases!

The first pre-released song is Lovin’ Me. The gorgeous vocals in this song are delivered by SIO, with SAENA doing the background vocals.

SIO, in an interview with 20detik, describes it as “a song about chasing after freedom in order to find myself by struggling my way through the restraints. It sends a message of support, encouragement, and empowerment to those who are experiencing growing pains.”

Personally, the line “It’s tough right now, but it’ll get better. Right?” is very comforting to me!

Log in, the second pre-release, shows the more fierce side of FIFTY FIFTY with powerful choreography, strong raps, and angelic vocals.

“Log in tells a story of logging out from the controlled self and logging in to a new self as powerful performances express the rebellious girls who struggle to escape from the harsh reality of the real world,” SAENA explained in an interview with 20detik.

An important thing that sets this song apart from the others is the surprise at the end!
