With the highlight of the winter holiday finally approaching, for last week’s spotlight vote, we decided to put together a list of special guys and gals born on Christmas day to see who you guys were excited to celebrate this year!
Well, it seems we have a new face on the block, as M1-KEYs worked together to make H1-KEY Yel’s first birthday as an idol a special one! As such, we’re going to use today to introduce the birthday girl and her group to those who may not know them too well!
H1-KEY (pronounced ‘high-key’) is a 4-member girl group that debuted on January 5th, 2022 with their single album ‘Athletic Girl’, consisting of members Seoi, Riina, Hwiseo, and Yel. They originally debuted with a 5th member, Sitala, but she became inactive almost immediately after their debut due to some controversy surrounding her family, and eventually officially left the group back in May.
Their debut was well received, currently sitting with just under 12 million views on the ‘Athletic Girl’ MV, and they’re set to comeback with their 1st mini album ‘Rose Blossom’ in just a couple of weeks on January 5th, 2023, marking their first anniversary!
Though H1-KEY have not yet had many official releases, they have been keeping their presence strong by providing their fans with a wide array of content through their company YouTube channel (GLG), allowing fans to get to know each of the members and their personalities better.
Within the group, Yel serves as a vocalist and rapper, but she’s also the maknae. However, despite her young age (being born in 2004) she shows a lot of ambition and determination! One such instance is her creation of original choreography to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bad Habits’, which she did in the modern dance style, a style that is both technically difficult and stunningly beautiful.
Yel’s ability to pull off such a feat despite not officially having dancer as one of her positions, just goes to show how much drive and determination she has as a performer, and how much she wishes to add variety to her skill set. It can be said without a doubt that having a mentality like this as a rookie artist is surely going to lead her to do great things throughout her career, so it’ll be exciting to see where Yel and the rest of H1-KEY end up in future.
Have you heard of H1-KEY before, and what was your impression of their debut? Also, if you are a fan of M1-KEY, how will you be celebrating Yel’s birthday this christmas, and preparing for the comeback? Let us know in a comment on the Kooky app!
