Despite having only debuted less than a month ago, new girl group We;Na (formerly known as CLIP) have already won over fans with their charismatic personalities and liveliness. Today we’re going to introduce you to these 4 amazing ladies, so get ready to fall in love with their bright energy!
We;Na is the latest girl group from Shine E&M consisting of 4 members: Doa (the leader and main dancer), Euna (vocalist), Yeonseo (main vocalist) and Woni (the maknae). Three of the members, Doa, Euna and Woni, were also members of a pre-debut group called CLIP whose debut was originally set for 2020, however they were reformed and renamed when Yeonseo later joined their ranks.
Their company announced the group’s long-awaited official debut in July 2022 under the new name We;Na, the name referencing the uniqueness of each member and how they come together to form one entity. Their fandom name ‘mymean’ was also revealed a few days later, and the group made their official debut on September 6th with their single ‘Like Psycho’.
‘Like Psycho’ is a dance-retro genre song with a highly bubbly, bouncy, and charming synth that insights a feeling of joy and makes you want to dance along the second you hit play. The lyrics are about the four women chasing their dreams in a world where the most important person is oneself (as it should be) - the song also mentions how they’ll always fight fiercely for their dreams no matter what challenges they face, even if they look “just like a psycho”.
The song and the girls of We;Na were met with lots of positive compliments following the release of the song to the public as the song wonderfully encapsulated the spirit and lively charm of the group and their message.
Despite the freshness of the group, We;na have already undoubtedly established a steady fanbase thanks to their pre-debut era activities, and the girls are well on their way to fulfilling their dreams of garnering fame around the world. In 2021, they were awarded the Rookie of the Year award at the world Creator Awards even though they had yet to formally debut.
The group also attracted the interest of a number of fashion brands. One of these being the street-wear fashion label SCREW DA RULES, which revealed its collaboration with the group back in July, before their official debut.
After the debut the group were also praised for their flawless choreography and incredible stage presence, even from their very first performance where they showcased cheerful and lovable visuals, and clean, sharp dance lines.
Just like We;na’s essence, the future of the group also appears bright - as they are still in the midst of their debut promotions they still have many performances left, and fans are already excited to see what kind of music they will produce in future. We for one wish them the best success in regards to their future activities, and hope they keep chasing their dreams “just like a psycho!”
